Dr. Newman is a plastic surgeon, specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body. He earned his undergraduate degree at University of California, Los Angeles, and his medical degree at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He then spent six years at the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University) completing a combined general surgery and plastic surgery residency. During his residency training, Dr. Newman gained extensive experience in the full spectrum of plastic surgery including cosmetic surgery of the face and body, surgery after massive weight loss, reconstruction of the head and body after traumatic injuries, reconstruction of the head and body after major cancer surgery, repair of facial and hand fractures, elective and traumatic hand surgery, craniofacial surgery including cleft lip and palate repair, burn surgery, and wound care.
Dr. Newman is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
